Apple’s lock on iPhone browser engines gets a December deadline

Japanese regulators have taken up the issue of third-party browser engines for iPhones and iPads. The guidelines set a December deadline for restrictions to be lifted. They also specify that Apple cant enforce alternative rules that make it difficult to adopt alternatives to WebKit.
